And I Choose Joy
Let it move you, let it move you, let it move you
Yeah, I choose joy
Let it move you, let it move, let it move you.
Song: Joy by For King and Country
The second day of my trip to “Grandma Lakes” house was full of walking and driving around the neighborhood in an effort to check more birds off of my year list. Her neighborhood has many houses with large, open yards. Several of her neighbors have feeders that allow the ability to see many different species. There are also birds there that aren’t around the Kansas City area.
It was a very successful day of birding… and swimming… and fishing… and relaxing. Birds that I was able to locate included a Greater Road Runner, a Fish Crow, and a Carolina Chickadee. Most of these aren’t able to be found in Kansas City so their discovery was met with much rejoicing.
I also found a Gray Catbird, a Red-eyed Vireo, a Pileated Woodpecker, and a Northern Rough-winged Swallow. These are all in the Kansas City area, but I hadn’t been able to locate them yet this year. Again, much rejoicing occurred when I located them.
Rejoicing is one of the parts of being a Christian that I struggle with. I know that sounds silly, but there are times when I just don’t feel like rejoicing. I let the worries and cares of this life interfere with my knowledge that GOD is amazing. If I would keep my focus on how awesome GOD is, rejoicing would come so much easier for me.
Rejoice in the LORD always. I will say it again: Rejoice!
Be glad in the LORD and rejoice, you righteous ones; shout for joy, all you upright in heart.
1 Thessalonians 5:16
It’s pretty clear from these verses that GOD expects me to be a person who rejoices. HE has done so much for me. I have a chance to live in Heaven with HIM some day. How could I not choose to rejoice? Just as I rejoiced at finding new birds for my life list, this week I will focus on rejoicing in JESUS CHRIST and the forgiveness that he has given me.
