I'm Talking the Good...
…the bad, the ugly.
On May 14th, the Fort Osage Women’s Soccer team took on Truman in the District semifinal game. Our team was having a very successful season. They had won nineteen games and only lost one. They were the undefeated conference champions. They had big aspirations.
The game against Truman was won easily. The photos in this blog are from that game, but most of my thoughts come from the final game. Fort Osage would lose the final in overtime. The goal that beat them was a fluke, to say the least. The opposing forward was back to the goal when they flicked the ball over their head and it happened to go just above the outstretched arms of our keeper for the sudden victory goal.
It was a heartbreaking loss.
In our everyday life, we often feel the pain of a heartbreaking loss. The death of a loved one. The loss of a job. Children moving away from home (my daughter is a senior next year and I’m struggling with letting her go).
Just like the Fort Osage Women’s Soccer program, we have to remember all of the good in our lives, not just focus on those tough losses. GOD desires us to focus on HIM and remember the good that HE has and will provide.
When times are good, be happy; but when times are bad, consider this:
GOD has made the one as well as the other.
Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which GOD has called me heavenward in CHRIST JESUS.
A man who endures trials is blessed, because when he passes the test he will receive the crown of life that GOD has promised to those who love HIM.
