“Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection, we can catch excellence.” - Vince Lombardi
Weekend two of Tristan’s baseball season was a tough one. The team actually made the semi-finals again, but their overall record was only 1 - 3. Tristan did okay, but also didn’t have as much success as weekend one.
From the plate he was only 3 - 10. He did have 4 RBI and finished the weekend as the team leader for RBI. Tristan also pitched in one of the games. He went 2.1 IP giving up 4 runs while striking out 3. He also rotated around the infield playing 2nd, SS, 3rd, and catcher in the rest of the games. The final game was his worst game in the field in a while… he had 2 errors.
The good news is that we can always start again and move forward. We can hit the practice fields and work hard to get better. Tristan’s team went back to the practice field and worked hard for the next week. Weekend three was the result.
Weekend three resulted in a tournament win. They finished 5 - 1 winning the championship game 3 - 1 over the team they lost to in pool play. From the plate, Tristan had a great weekend. He went 9 - 14 with 1 RBI. Game three of the tournament Tristan pitched a complete game (5 innings) allowing 1 run. It was awesome to see him dominate from the mound like that.
Just like Tristan rebounded in baseball, we can rebound in the real world. GOD wants us to practice and keep moving forward. Here are several verses that emphasize this point.
Keep moving forward:
Brothers, I do not consider myself to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and reaching forward to what is ahead, I pursue as my goal the prize promised by God’s heavenly call in Christ Jesus.
Do what you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you.
1 Corinthians 9:24-27
Don’t you know that the runners in a stadium all race, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way to win the prize. Now everyone who competes exercises self-control in everything. However, they do it to receive a crown that will fade away, but we a crown that will never fade away. Therefore I do not run like one who runs aimlessly or box like one beating the air. Instead, I discipline my body and bring it under strict control, so that after preaching to others, I myself will not be disqualified.
2 Timothy 3:16-17
All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
Here are some images from weekend two. Weekend three was cold and rainy, so there are no images.
