Give Me Your Eyes For Just One Second...
Give me your eyes so I can see
Everything that I keep missing
Give your love for humanity
In early March I was informed of a Great Horned Owl nest in northern Kansas City. I almost jumped up right that minute and went… but it was raining. The next several weeks were filled with life. School… track… concerts… There just wasn’t time to make the trip.
Spring break came about the last week of March, and I finally had some free time. Owl… Here I come. I planned to head up after track practice so that the sun would be in the right placement for pictures (yes, when shooting wildlife I spend a lot of time worrying about making sure the sun hits the subject correctly). Owls are mentioned many times in the BIBLE. Here is one of my favorite mentions. At this time, we’re told Edom was going to be destroyed, and wildlife would take over.
The owl will make her nest there; she will lay and hatch her eggs and will gather her brood under her shadow. Indeed, the birds of prey will gather there, each with its mate.
As I was preparing to go see this owl nest, I remembered that one of my coworkers was very fond of owls. She always likes and comments to me on my owl photos. After checking with Sandy, I invited her to see the nest with me. The plans were made, and off we went.
The sharing of my talents and possessions is something I am trying to work on. GOD expects me to do good, and to share of what I have. GOD has been very good to me. He’s given me everything I need and more. I need to make sure to repay HIM. Sharing is one way that I can do that. Consider the following verses…
A kind man benefits himself, but a cruel man brings disaster on himself.
One person gives freely, yet gains more; another withholds what is right, only to become poor. A generous person will be enriched, and the one who gives a drink of water will receive water.
Do nothing out of rivalry or conceit, but in humility consider others as more important than yourselves. Everyone should look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.
Don’t neglect to do what is good and to share, for God is pleased with such sacrifices.
I know that GOD wants me to share. I was lucky enough to share this experience with one of my coworkers. I’ve been able to share many of my experiences with you all here in this blog. I share images with Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. I hope that all those that see or read them know that GOD deserves the glory for what I see and do, and my sharing of them is in honor of HIS wonderfulness. Here are the images I captured on our owl excursion. Click on the images to see larger views. Enjoy!
