Come They Told Me...
I sit here on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, listening to Christmas music and loving it! I know I can listen to it year round, but it wouldn’t be as special then. One of my favorites is “Little Drummer Boy.” I really enjoy Pentatonix’s version of it. The very first line hit me as what I needed to use for this blog title.
I recently took a trip to Martha Lafite Nature Sanctuary in Liberty, Missouri. If you live in the Kansas City area and are looking for a beautiful place to walk, take pictures, or watch wildlife, this is the place. My goal on this particular trip though, was to get some close up images of song birds at the feeders.
I love how Martha Lafite has set up their feeders. They are in the middle of a small wooded area. This allows the birds several areas to perch as they wait for their turn at the feeders, and also allows me to get some images of song birds on natural perches. I would love to capture images with cleaner backgrounds, but this is a very acceptable substitute for me.
I also love how they have the feeders visible from several areas. You can be inside the building and look out the windows. You can sit out on the deck and look down on the feeding area. Or my favorite, you can stand below the deck. The building has a walk out basement and there is about a five foot tall wall holding back the ground. I can stand against that wall, rest my arms and camera against the top of it, and look up to the feeder area. Best of all, the birds don’t see me there, even though I’m only 10 feet or so away..
I love how GOD acts as I do when I take pictures of birds at Martha Lafite. HE is there watching over me even though I don’t always recognize it. HE is close to me, even when I don’t necessarily feel HIS presence. HE wants so badly to have a relationship with me that HE came down from up high, to be near me.
I’m so blessed to have a GOD that cares so much and is with me always. I’m so thankful for the opportunity to capture images of the wonderful things that he has created. I’m honored that you all take the time to read my ramblings, and hope that you get as much out of reading them as I do studying and writing them.
I hope you have a great Thanksgiving and a wonderful holiday season. Enjoy the time with your family and friends. Most importantly, never forget that GOD is there with you!
“Look, I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go. I will bring you back to this land, for I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.”
“I will instruct you and show you the way to go; with MY eye on you, I will give counsel.”
“The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and HIS ears are open to their cry for help.”
“The LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.”
“Draw near to GOD, and HE will draw near to you.”
