Welcome to my site. I take photos, and learn life lessons. I hope you are inspired by what you find.

Ezra 7:10

“Now Ezra had determined in his heart to study the law of the LORD, obey it, and teach its statutes and ordinances in Israel.”

This is Where the Healing Begins...

On October 12th, the Fort Osage football team hosted William Chrisman. This game is dubbed “The 24 HWY Rivalry.” It is one of the biggest games of the year. Since this is a game for and about the community (many families have ties to both schools), it’s a perfect night to come together for Cancer Awareness!

Cancer has been a big part of my life. When I first met my wife, she had just lost her aunt to liver cancer. Not long after we were married, My family started losing many fights against cancer. My Aunt Marlys died from colon cancer. My Uncle Chuck died from lung cancer. (Just like my Grandpa Hinckley did when I was very young) My Grandma Hanson died from breast cancer. My Cousin John died from colon cancer. And just last year my Mom started treatments for skin cancer.

Cancer is an ugly thing, and it tears families apart. I’m so proud of my school for the work they do in supporting cancer research. Our student council did an amazing job and raised over $1000 for cancer research.

However, even with all this good that we are able to do, I can’t help but think that GOD wants us to place a little more trust in him. The LORD is the great physician. One of the names used to describe him in the Old Testament is Jehovah Rapha, the LORD who heals you. (Exodus 15:26) Here are some verses that I look to when I need to let the great physician work on me.

Psalms 103:2-3

"My soul, praise the LORD, and do not forget all HIS benefits.  HE forgives all your sin; HE heals all your diseases.”

Psalms 107:19-20

“Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble; HE saved them from their distress.  HE sent HIS word and healed them; HE rescued them from the Pit.”

Matthew 4:23

“Jesus was going all over Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.”

Fort Osage won the game easily. It’s been many years since we have lost to our rival. Hopefully, with people continuing to support cancer awareness… we’ll be able to say the same about our common rival, cancer.

Enjoy some photos.
