Like A Bride Waiting For Her Groom...
I have a confession to make. I know that it will have some big repercussions once it is made known, but I have to be honest. Please don't think less of me...
I love Hallmark Channel movies.
There, it's out in the open. I'm a sappy story, romance loving, sissy boy. And proud of it. I love the fact that I can sit down with the family and watch a movie that won't have inappropriate words or scenes in it. I love the good clean fun that they show. Mostly, I love how being in the right mind set can help me draw closer to GOD. Here are some of my favorite verses that remind me to be careful about what I think about.
"Set your minds on what is above, not on what is on the earth."
"Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of GOD."
This last one is my favorite.
"Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable—if there is any moral excellence and if there is any praise—dwell on these things."
I love the "Winterfest" movies in January. I love the wintry theme to them and how it reminds me of being back in South Dakota. The snow, the winter activities, the warm fires... there is nothing better. Although, I don't miss shoveling the snow AT ALL!!!
I love the "Countdown to Valentines" movies. I love how they remind me to make days special for my wife. She deserves it. The amount of patience she has to put up with me is amazing. The amount of love she has for others puts me to shame. Her willingness to help with any project, for anyone is an amazing display of servant leadership. I'm the luckiest guy in the world!
I love the "Spring Fever" movies. I love how they usher in new beginings. When winter finally ends and you can start getting outside, is there anything better. The beauty of flowers and trees blooming. Grass in the yard turning green. The gentle spring rains. Spring is a beautiful time, and the movies reflect that.
I love the "June Wedding" movies (hence the title of this blog). I love how they remind me of my wedding day. I was a nervous wreck, until I saw Sandy walking down the isle, and then I knew that this was exactly the way life was suppose to be. I love how they remind me that the planning of a wedding isn't easy, and compromises must be made (like not having frog invitations that said "until we croak"). However, when it all comes together weddings are wonderful times.
I love the "Fall Harvest" movies. They remind me of all the things I love about fall. The beautiful colors in the trees that happen in fall. The cooling temperatures after a long hot summer. The expectations of Halloween, Thanksgiving and the Christmas season. Family... that is what fall is about.
Finally, I love the "Christmas in July" and "Countdown to Christmas" movies. Christmas is my favorite time of year. Spending time with family. The beauty of the decorations and the lights. The food. The joy on little children's faces. There is just a "magic" to the season.
I have spent many years collecting Hallmark movies on DVD. I spent some time looking for unique ways to take pictures of them for this blog. I hope you enjoy them.
