Hello!

Welcome to my site. I take photos, and learn life lessons. I hope you are inspired by what you find.

Ezra 7:10

“Now Ezra had determined in his heart to study the law of the LORD, obey it, and teach its statutes and ordinances in Israel.”

'Cause You Don't Make Mistakes...

'Cause You Don't Make Mistakes...

And you didn’t start with me.

Even though I'm far from where I know I'm supposed to be.

Song: Mistakes by Influence Music & Melody Noel

Unfortunately, I do make mistakes… A LOT of them! My recent outings trying to capture images of lightning made me very aware of the number of mistakes I make. In two evenings of perfect storms… I didn’t get any real keeper shots.

A couple were close, but there always seemed to be something just a little off. One of them had a huge raindrop on the lens. Another couple were slightly out of focus. Some of them you could barely see the lightning, even though it was magnificent when viewed from the eye.

I’d like to say that it wasn’t my fault. It was my gear… It was the wind… Perhaps it was the location… However, it was me. I wasn’t using what was available to me to capture the image correctly. I chose the gear… the gear didn’t chose me. I chose the settings… the settings didn’t chose me. I chose the location… the location didn’t chose me.

I’m responsible for my mistakes, period. That is why I always try to save some of the images regardless of how badly I messed up. They can still be used for something (like this blog!) I can use them as a lesson to myself on what not to do again. I will get another chance at photographing lightning. I will probably fail again, but hopefully I will improve, and at some point get the amazing image I envision.

We recently had a sermon about GOD and love. It really moved me and I’m glad that it happened right after one my recent failed attempts at lightning photography. I make a lot of mistakes in photography, and I also make a lot of mistakes in my walk with GOD. If GOD was like me, HE would be assigning the blame to me for all the mistakes I make, and would punish me accordingly.

But GOD doesn’t care about all the mistakes that I make. HE loves me regardless. HE works on me and tries to salvage everything that HE can. HE helps me to learn from the mistakes and be better. HIS love for me is so amazing!

There were three points in the lesson, that I’m going to basically list for you here with some verses as support. Hopefully they can help you as much as they helped me.

1. GOD’s love is UNDESERVED

Romans 5:8

But GOD proves HIS own love for us in that while we were still sinners, CHRIST died for us!

2. GOD’s love is UNEARNED

Ephesians 2:8-9

For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is GOD’s gift — not from works, so that no one can boast.

3. GOD’s love is UNENDING

Pslam 136:26

Give thanks to the GOD of heaven, for HIS steadfast love endures forever.

GOD loves me. GOD loves you. GOD loves everyone. GOD loves, period. The rich… the poor… the healthy… the sick… those who lie… those who are honest… the cheaters… the idolaters… the ones who believe they are righteous… the religious… the adulterers… the brave… the scared. No matter where we are on life’s journey, we don’t have to try to earn GOD’s love. We just have to realize it is there, and be thankful for it. As we go forward this week, lets be the reflection of HIS love to the world around us. We all make mistakes, but GOD doesn’t.
